ee Hockey Tutorial 6 - Updating Game Results

The APP provides alternatives for updating Game Results. These alternative methods have been added to provide the greatest flexibility for users. For example, some players, or their parents, may only want to update the game and player results of games they or their children play in. Others, such as coaches, may want to update the results of all the players on their team for all goals and penalties on a minute by minute basis, but only update the final game score for other teams :

There are two options available for Automatic Update:

•  Direct Update - Game results are updated directly by updating the number of goals scored in each period for each team. Once the update is saved, this game result is rolled up with all previous game results for the team, for the season, to generate the Team Standings. In this option, there is no record of individual events for the game or players involved.
• Game Log Update - Game results (and Team Standings) are updated indirectly by entering the individual events occurring during the game. One enters goals, shots, penalties (for skaters) and goals against, shutouts, wins, losses, etc, (for goalies) as they occur by team, player, period, and time. This method automatically creates and updates a Game Log for the Game and Player Game Logs for the Players.

 Automatic Update without a Game Log - Click on the team code and use the +/- buttons to set the score, and then save. The Team Standing will automatically be updated:

 

Updating the game status to 'Final' will invoke a check that may issue an information message:

• Are the Game 'Goals' of a team fully allocated to player-skaters of the team ?
• Are the Game 'Goals-Against' of a team fully allocated to player-goalies of the team ?

However, it is up to the user if the unbalanced state of Goals and Goals-Against matters and if corrective action via updates to player game logs should be taken.
